The technology giant Tencent and Honda, the Japanese car maker, have partnered together to up to build an in-car infotainment system for the Chinese market which lets people shop online.
The new system will allow drivers to place an order, make payment on the way to the store and pick up their purchase later. The companies have stated that the system can be used safely.
Both Honda and Tencent say that they will install new functions into the TAI connected car system, which is designed for Honda cars. The TAI infotainment system will feature a wide selection of convenience functions and also entertainment too.
Tencent will use technology that they developed for its WeChat messaging platform in the in the interactive Honda vehicle infotainment system. The technology giant are currently facing slow growth in its smartphone and internet-services business – therefore they are hopeful that the partnership with Honda will get them back up to speed.
