Hyatt to Develop First Romania Site

Luxury hospitality group Hyatt is planning the development of its first hotel in Romania as part of its expansion into CEE. The company is looking to develop an upper-scale hotel in Bucharest with around 200 rooms.

The group says that Bucharest has significant potential in the hotel segment because its population is larger than capital cities like Warsaw, Budapest or Munich. Moreover, Bulgaria is currently the biggest market in CEE for Hyatt with six operational hotels and another one under development.

“Opportunities for developing large-scale hotels in the centre of Bucharest are rare and in general, are based on franchise models,” said Takuya Aoyama, VP Development at Hyatt. The planned hotel in Bucharest will be managed directly by Hyatt.

In the region, Hyatt has 13 hotels with 3,395 rooms in seven countries. In the next three years, the group aims to deliver another six projects.
