Ikea officially confirmed its landing in Colombia with the opening of its first store in the country. The Swedish ensign revealed its billboard this weekend in what will be its premises, in the Mallplaza shopping centre in Bogotá.
This first store of the brand in the national market will open its doors in the first half of 2023 and will be succeeded in 2024 by a double number of more openings, in Cali and Medellín. These establishments will be located in the Mallplaza shopping centres in Cali, which is under construction, as well as the Viva Envigado complex, on the outskirts of Medellín.
The first Ikea store in the country covers an area of 13,000sq m and is already being remodelled and adapted.
The European furniture, decoration and home firm, founded in 1943, has arrived in the region thanks to the Chilean giant Falabella, one of the largest retailers in the region.
Ikea is already operating in Chile and includes in its plans the simultaneous operation of the markets of Peru and Colombia.
