Inditex has opened its first “for&from” store outside Europe at the Samara Shops shopping centre in Mexico City, following openings in Spain, Italy and Portugal.
This is the fourth market in which the company has introduced this format of establishments for the social and labour integration of people with disabilities.
All Inditex “for&from” stores are managed by specialised social organisations and replicate the same model. Based on an initial donation from Inditex to launch the store, the model becomes self-sustaining through the sale of products from previous campaigns at reduced prices and the profits generated are entirely used to finance the social projects of the collaborating entities.
Confe, a local entity with more than 46 years of experience that represents a network of more than 100 organisations in Mexico, manages this new space for women’s, men’s and children’s footwear in Mexico City, where nine people with different disabilities work.
Inditex currently has 16 “for&from” stores, which have generated employment opportunities for more than 850 people with different disabilities and more than 8.5 million euros for social projects of the different managing organisations.
In addition, this initiative seeks to create reference commercial spaces that raise awareness about the importance of the integration of people with disabilities, promoting inclusion, accessibility and the elimination of barriers.
“For&from” was born in 2002 with a Massimo Dutti store in Palafolls (Barcelona). Currently, other Inditex commercial brands such as Pull&Bear, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho, as well as Tempe Inditex, are part of this project.
