intu’s share price takes a hit

intu, the owner of numerous shopping centres in the UK, such as Lakeside, Essex and The Trafford Centre, Manchester has seen its share price fall amid weak performance from retailers that occupy a large amount of space in the shopping centres, noticeably the Arcadia Group and the retailer Debenhams are struggling with the ongoing crisis hitting the high street, as more people shift online for their shopping needs.

Commenting on the situation, Matthew Roberts, intu Chief Executive said: ‘We are making good progress with fixing the balance sheet, our number one priority, and are confident we have the right strategy in place to enable us to prosper as we see continued polarisation between the best destinations and the rest.’
