J.Crew Announces UK Exit

The US retailer will close all six of its stores across the UK.

The retailer launched its flagship store on London’s Regent Street in 2013, and has since been available through standalone locations and through a partnership with John Lewis that was terminated last year.

J. Crew Group filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy back in May following the hard hitting effects of the global Coronavirus pandemic. Earlier this month, the group which owns both J. Crew and Madewell, emerged from bankruptcy after winning approval for its restructuring plans.

A J.Crew spokesperson commented: “We thank our UK associates for their dedication during this unprecedented time and working to support their transition.” Despite the retailer closing all of its store locations, the company has commented that it will still “serve UK customers through its global ecommerce platform.”

FRP Advisory has been appointed as liquidator.
