The brand is in talks with American-based Authentic Brands to buy Topshop out of administration.
Although the talks between JD Sports and Authentic Brands are far from ‘concrete’, it has been reported that Authentic Brands, that owns a number of brands including Forever 21 and Barneys, is in early-stage discussions for JD Sports to become the operating partner of Topshop should their bid for the brand be successful.
Arcadia Group, which owns Topshop fell into administration last October and thus far, only one Arcadia brand has been rescued. Australian firm City Chic acquired the Evans brand. Any other offers for Arcadia’s brands are due to be finalised in the coming days, with other bidders including Next and Frasers Group.
Deloitte are hoping to secure deals for the Arcadia brands, with the hopes of saving the business.
