John Lewis to Confirm Job Cuts

The John Lewis Partnership is expected to confirm around 1,500 job cuts this week as they look to keep costings down.

The John Lewis Partnership, which is the parent company of John Lewis and Waitrose first announced the plans to make job cuts last November, the Partnership is now due to formally announce the redundancies this week.

The ‘difficult but necessary decision’ will affect staff at John Lewis head office sites in Victoria, London, and Bracknell, Berkshire and it has been reported that the Partnership contacted employees yesterday to warn them if they are at risk of redundancy.

The company hopes that making these job cuts will save them around £50M of their larger £300M target. These 1,500 job cuts come following earlier news that eight John Lewis stores would be closing, with the loss of a further 1,300 employees.
