Karl Lagerfeld to Open First Hotel

The first Karl Lagerfeld hotel is on course to open in Macau in June and the launch will be accompanied by a series of celebrations.

The fashion house founded by the couturier of the same name announced its entry into the luxury hôtellerie segment in 2016 with the opening of its first hotel in 2018. Construction delays and the pandemic forced it to postpone its opening inauguration.

The five-star hotel, which has 271 rooms, is part of the gigantic luxury hotel complex Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau. It is the last interior design project designed by Karl Lagerfeld before his passing in February 2019.

“Each of the 271 rooms and suites features influences from both classic Chinese design and contemporary Western aesthetics,” explains the brand in a statement, citing the presence of custom-made furniture “that reflect Karl Lagerfeld’s passion for collaborations, between including sculptures by Dutch artist Marcel Wanders and French artist Jean-Michel Othoniel, as well as Terzani chandeliers”.
