KFC Australia Pilots Drone-Delivery Service

The global restaurant chain has launched its first drone-delivery service, partnering with Wing to deliver hot food directly to customers at home and work in Queensland.

The drone-delivery service will be available to a small number of households in the Queensland suburbs of Kingston, Logan Central, Slacks Creek, Underwood, and Woodridge. This will gradually expand to include other nearby locations.

A cloud kitchen has been developed in partnership with Collins Food Limited, which is KFC Australia’s largest corporate franchise partner. The cloud kitchen will prepare the chicken ready for drone delivery, allowing customers to get their orders within minutes.

Kristi Woolrych, CMO KFC Australia, said: “We’re always looking for ways to enhance the customer experience. Given the last 18 months, Australians have relied on delivery more and more, so it’s great to be making life easier for fans who want to get their hands on KFC in a flash.”

Customers will need to download the Wing delivery app, enter their address and submit their orders. Items will be prepared and despatched without delivery fees.
