Kura Sushi flagship in Tokyo

The Japanese restaurant chain Kura Sushi has launched a flagship restaurant in Tokyo’s Asakusa district, which was designed by Kashiwa Sato.

The new eatery features traditional Japanese architecture with wooden interiors. The frame of a wooden ‘house’ stands in the heart of the restaurant, creating a canopy over seating and the conveyor belts that carry the food.

Also available is an app that will allow customers to self-check-in, make payments and it will even allow them to see available seating within the restaurant. Tablets are installed at 270 seats of the restaurant, which are able to handle different languages for foreign visitors.

Kura Sushi operates 440 restaurants across Japan and more than 20 outlets internationally. The company has recently unveiled its expansion into the China market.
