Leon Offers Carbon Neutral Menu Items

The move makes Leon the very first fast food restaurant group to launch carbon a neutral burger and fries.

Leon has pledged to become entirely carbon neutral by 2030 with the support of environmental solutions group, ClimatePartner. The carbon neutral burgers that are on the menu including crispy chicken parm, chargrilled chicken, the ‘Sweet Carolina’ vegan barbecue, a fish finger choice and a reworked version of the Leon plant-based burger, the Love burger.

The brand’s partnership with ClimatePartner is now seeing Leon measure all their CO2 emissions generated across the entirety of its business and offsetting these by working with rainforest conservation projects in South America and a new afforestation project in the UK. The carbon footprint of the new menu items will all be offset with rainforest conservation projects.

Kirsty Saddler, Values and Sustainability Director, commented: “We are working to reduce our emissions and achieve a net zero target by 2030, offsetting unavoidable emissions, with reforestation and afforestation projects, is an important commitment for us as we work towards that long-term target. The future of fast food must be kinder to the planet.”
