Considered to be Quebec City’s oldest shopping centre, Les Galeries de la Canardiere has embarked on a mixed-use redevelopment project.
Managed by Econo-Malls, Les Galeries de la Canardiere celebrated its 60th anniversary on October 1. The 178,560sq ft shopping centre is home to many retailers including A&W, Subway, Pizza Charest, Lunnetterie Visique, Dollarama, Bijouterie Suisse as well as others.
To mark the centre’s 60th birthday, they announced plans for a mixed-use redevelopment project. The first phase of this project has already begun and is a 126-unit residential rental building. Speaking of other aspects of the redevelopment project, Natacha Menard, Director of Leasing for the centre, commented:
“We now see all around the site, many office buildings and housing units that were constructed in recent years. These developments and the city’s vision for the area will result in significant pedestrian traffic to the centre. Mixed-use developments are the way of the future. It’s a place where people can live, work, and play, all in one location.”
