Service has been resumed at Dubai International Airport, albeit in a limited capacity as Dubai Duty Free launch a partial re-opening of its retail area in Concourse B –West in Terminal 3.
In terms of revenue, Dubai Duty Free was the world’s largest airport retailer when it was forced to close down its operations on 25 March due to the UAE government’s decision to suspend passenger flights because of Covid-19. The retailer has gone on record to say it will also open its retail operations in DXB’s Terminal 2 this week.
”We were very pleased to receive the approval from the government authorities to open our shops in Concourse B-West and we are happy to be back and serving our customers once more,” said Colm McLoughlin, Dubai Duty Free’s Executive Vice Chairman & CEO. “We have been planning the re-opening since mid-April and have put in place an extensive range of sanitisation and re-zoning measures that will ensure the safety of our customers and our staff.”
As part of the re-opening in Terminal 3, a new concierge service has been introduced to help customers with their purchases. The customer can order products from the concierge counter, the goods will be picked by Dubai Duty Free staff and delivered to the customer for payment.
