In a call with reporters, Bill Boltz, Executive VP of Merchandising for Lowe’s, explained how the home improvement retailer has already been preparing for an early start to its holiday promotion, which launched on Wednesday 20 October.
Citing proprietary research from Lowe’s which indicates that 90 per cent of consumers plan to spend as much or more this holiday season as they did in 2020, and that more than half of consumers will begin holiday shopping before Thanksgiving, Boltz said the home improvement giant is taking a “nimble, agile” approach. The company also set its stores early in the season.
“Even before the current transportation issues, Lowe’s was ordering and bringing more product to our warehouses and stores,” said Boltz. “We’re leveraging that position to remain close to the timelines to bring products to consumers with price points in line with their expectations. Stores are set for the holidays, and we will position them with product available early.”
Lowe’s holiday assortment includes multiple sizes and styles of decorations suited for all the major holidays celebrated during November and December, including Kwanzaa and Hanukkah. For the first time, the retailer is offering an online-only assortment of its own brand of holiday products, with three-to-five-day shipping available.
