Maison Margiela Opens New Shanghai Concept Store

The luxury fashion house has chosen the Reel Department Store in Shanghai to house their new 160sq m boutique.

Featuring the new vision of Creative Director John Galliano, the new Maison Margiela is the first outlet in China that boasts the new concept, designed by Dutch architecture studio Anne Holtrop. This design first appeared in the Bruton Street store in London, and also features at Avenue Montaigne in Paris and Osaka Shinsaibashi Parco in Japan.

The boutique is complete with a minimalist concept and is finished with artisanal furnishings and natural shades of plaster. In stark contrast to this, the ceiling and walls of the fitting rooms are painted in a dark-green gloss to echo the deep shimmering shine of ‘Japanese lacquer cabinets.’

The store offers a complete range of Maison Margiela’s collections, with ready-to-wear, accessories, shoes, leather goods and jewellery and fragrances all available to shop. In addition to this, the Recicla 5AC bags will exclusively be available at the Reel store to celebrate the opening.
