After two years of work and an investment of more than 634,000 million Colombian pesos, Mallplaza officially opens its doors in the city of Cali and launches its first commercial complex in the south of Colombia.
“The investment we made in Cali is the result of our company’s commitment to Colombia in recent years. We are convinced that the permanent connection with people is what allows us to respond to their new needs and understand that our urban centres are living spaces that are permanently transformed to surprise and enrich the lives of everyone, that is our commitment,” reported Mauricio Mendoza, Mallplaza Division Manager for Colombia and Peru.
Mallplaza Cali, with a gross leasable area (GLA) of 67,500sq m, generated more than 1,400 jobs in the construction stage and will operate with nearly 1,600 formal employees, both direct and indirect.
With the new opening of the mall, the doors of the first Ikea store in Cali, the second in Colombia, as well as a large-format Zara store, the second H&M store in Cali, were also opened.
In addition to its unparalleled commercial offering, the shopping centre has 13,000sq m of public space to socialise and enjoy, thanks to the park incorporated into its proposal, which will add to the unique architecture that is already integrated into the city.
