Beginning on 15 July, people who get their coffee fix from Starbucks will be required to wear a mask.
“Our priority is the health and well-being of our partners (employees),” Starbucks said in a tweet. “Starting July 15, U.S. company-owned locations will require customers to wear facial coverings while visiting the café.”
The move comes days after the Retail Industry Leaders Association sent a letter to the National Governors Association in which it urged every governor to require customers to wear a mask when entering a retail store or other enclosed public space.
Starbucks noted that customers in locations without a local government mandate to wear masks will have other options to make their purchase, including ordering at the drive-thru, curb side pickup through the Starbucks app or placing an order for delivery.
