Partnering with TerraCycle, the brand will add recycling bins for make-up to around 1000 stores across the UK.
The initiative comes as consumers are becoming more and more concerned with recycling and sustainability particularly in the beauty sector. Beginning today, customers will be able to drop off their empty make-up products including compacts, eyeshadow palettes, foundation bottles, concealer tubes, mascara, eyeliner and lip products into one of the recycling bins available at participating Tesco and Superdrug stores.
Once placed into the recycling bins, TerraCycle can process mixed materials such as bottles with pumps with the items then being recycled into plastic pellets. TerraCycle’s Head of Communications Stephen Clarke has commented that the ability to process mixed materials makes this initiative better than standard authority recycling options.
