The company has announced a new campaign that will aid local communities and protect the environment.
The new campaign consists of four branches – Our Planet, Food Quality & Sourcing, Community Connection and Jobs, Inclusion & Empowerment and the company has said that it will implement plans to achieve growth in each of these areas.
McDonald’s has commented that by 2025, it plans to transition to the use of 100 per cent recyclable, recycled or certified packaging materials. The company has also committed to replacing all of its McDelivery bikes with zero-emission electric bikes by 2021. Fresh and sustainable ingredients will be used in restaurants and by the end of the year, the company will be using sunflower oil, a much healthier alternative to other plant-based oils and a first for the fast-food industry.
Antoni Martinez, Managing Director of McDonald’s Korea, commented: “McDonald’s is now just a company serving burgers. As a good neighbour, we endeavour to help the community solve issues and difficulties it faces, and help improve people’s lives. We will keep contributing to creating a better community through small but great changes that we have pursued in a variety of areas.”
