The fast-food giant is set to launch a reusable hot drinks cup with TerraCycle’s circular packing service Loop.
Customers can pay a small deposit for the durable cup which can be redeemed by returning the cup to any participating restaurants. Cups will be sanitised between each use by the Loop System. This new reusable cup joins other environmentally friendly initiatives that the restaurant has implemented including the Recup system in Germany and NextGen Gup Challenge in the US.

This pilot will generate important local insights and lessons to share along the way. We will accelerate circular-packaging solutions with our partners around the globe.” commented Jenny McColloch, Vice President Global Sustainability at McDonald’s.
The service will firstly be trialled at select restaurant in the US before being rolled out into other markets.
