Melbourne Central Adding to Portfolio

The shopping centre is adding an additional 20 new stores to its portfolio in the coming months in order to revive its retail wing.

The move comes as Omicron continues to wane out and the effects of the global pandemic continue to lessen. The additional 20 stores comes after last year’s expansion which added 20 new stores to the precinct. Melbourne Central Centre Manager, Mardi Ashkine is optimistic about this venture and remains hopeful that retail will continue to bounce back and get into full swing again this year.

Ashkine says: “We’ve had a strong February so far, with a 41 per cent increase in foot traffic compared to 2021. It’s been fabulous to experience an influx of shoppers again, who are seeking out cultural experiences and retail therapy.”

Some of the new stores set to open over the next six months include Cinnabon, Guess, Foodao, Puzzle Coffee and more, reflecting the centre’s keen intentions to add more F&B offerings for customers. The highly-anticipated Lego store, the largest in the southern hemisphere, is also set to open in the coming months.
