Mercer to Launch First Flagship

The Dutch vegan sneaker brand has chosen Amsterdam as the location for its first flagship store.

Known for creating products from sustainable materials such as pineapple and wine leather, Mercer focuses on luxury handcrafted footwear and accessories for men and women. The new store is located in De Pijp and features the label’s latest Spring/Summer 2021 collection.

Also housed at the store is a giant recycling box to encourage customers to donate their old shoes in return for an 8.7 per cent discount on a new pair. Mercer hopes that with this initiative they can help reduce the amount of shoes that end up in landfill each year, which is 87 million – a number that inspired the 8.7 per cent discount.

Founder and Head Designer, Pim Dresen commented: “Considering fashion is the most polluting industry in the world I think it is very important for us a small brand to make sneakers with alternative materials and source them locally instead of internationally.”

Currently due to Covid restrictions in place, customers can only visit the store by appointment between 10am and 5:30pm.
