Mom’s Touch in Talks for Japan Venture

South Korean chicken and burger brand Mom’s Touch is in discussions with several Japanese firms to form a joint venture that will help expand its network in Japan.

The chain has been talking with housing developer Daiwa House and some other companies for its first joint venture in Japan, a Mom’s Touch representative told The Korea Times. The joint venture, once finalised, will take over the brand’s expansion and operation in Japan and pay brand royalties to the Korean company in return.

Mom’s Touch opened its first location in Japan last month in Tokyo’s Shibuya district. The debut came after the chain’s four-week trial in the neighbourhood from October to November last year. The company currently operates 1,400 franchise restaurants in South Korea, four in Mongolia, six in Thailand and one in the US. It has also sealed franchise deals to open its first restaurants in Laos and Cambodia this year.
