Saudi Minister of Tourism Ahmed Bin Aqeel Al Khateeb has announced that the Saudi Arabia’ tourism sector will create 260,000 jobs in the coming three years, saying: “Tourism constitutes 10 per cent of the average total income of the world’s economies. This sector constitutes 18 per cent of Spain’s income, for example, 16 per cent of France’s income, while it contributes 3.5 per cent of the income in the kingdom’s economy. We look forward to raising the sector’s contribution to 10 per cent by 2030.” There are currently 600,000 people employed within the tourism sector and by 2030 the plan for authorities is to create as many as one million additional jobs. This increase in jobs is to help with the increase of annual visitors, which is expected to jump from 41 million at present to 100 million by 2030.
