This July, renowned London-based restaurateur Ellen Chew will be opening the third location of Mrs Chew’s Chinese Kitchen (MCCK) in London’s Westfield Stratford City.
The news comes following the success of this authentic Halal Chinese eatery in other key UK shopping destinations in London and Birmingham.
Mrs Chew’s Chinese Kitchen is a contemporary street food concept that creates speedy and affordable Chinese favourites that are freshly prepared from scratch each day. Designed by Sherliker Design, the visually eye-catching shopping centre kiosks are a nod to Ellen’s Singaporean and Chinese heritage, with a popularly Chinese red colouring, Ping Pong bats hanging above the counter and Maneki-Neko lucky waving cats on the back wall which hold a special meaning of happiness, purity and positive things to come.
For passersby, the kiosk delivers a selection of time-honoured recipes from Ellen’s Chinese heritage, such as the much-loved halal dry-aged Cantonese roast duck, served with steamed rice and pak choi. The menu also features wok-fried dishes, such as kung pao chicken and black bean beef, and a vast array of signature dim sum favourites: siu mai, Sichuan chilli wontons and fluffy buns filled with char siu chicken. For a quick sweet bite, shoppers can choose the dessert option of dipping golden fried mantou (small steamed buns) or sweet potato balls in a sauce of sweet condensed milk.
