The 840,000sq m island, which was announced by Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Chairman of the NEOM Board of Directors in December 2022, marks NEOM’s first completed project.
NEOM has launched Sindalah, its first destination and a showcase of Saudi Arabia’s tourism ambitions, located five kilometres off the NEOM coastline in the Red Sea. The development required 30,000 workers from four local contractors and 60 subcontractors over two years.
“NEOM is committed to supporting the Kingdom’s new era of luxury tourism, with the opening of Sindalah. The realisation of this landmark destination, the gateway to the Red Sea, is due to the visionary leadership of His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman and Saudi Vision 2030. This is a proud chapter in the NEOM story and we are excited to achieve more of our ambitious goals, with the continued support of His Royal Highness. NEOM’s inaugural destination offers visitors a ‘first glimpse’ of what the future holds for our extensive portfolio of destinations and developments,” Nadhmi Al-Nasr, Chief Executive Officer, NEOM said.
The island, designed by yachting architecture firm Luca Dini, features an 86-berth marina, the Sindalah Yacht Club with Stefano Ricci interiors and facilities for super yachts. Its location puts it 17 hours by sea from Mediterranean destinations.
The development includes 38 restaurants, 36 retail outlets, a Beach Club and a Golf Club with a 6,474-yard par 70 course. Accommodation comprises 440 rooms, 88 villas and 218 serviced apartments.
