The attraction, called Al Barza, is an ‘informal’ Emirati Majlis, traditionally a space where leaders would gather with their citizens to discuss politics and community governance.
The attraction is situated within the grand Palace of the Nation, Qasr Al Watan which lies at one end of the city’s main Corniche and is caught between the unyielding blues of the Arabian Gulf. The palace itself is a newcomer to the UAE’s heritage scene, having only opened its ornate doors to the public in 2019, but it already commands a place amongst the region’s most precious cultural gems.
Entry to the attraction costs Dhs600 and upon entering, guests will treated to a blend of educational and inspirational experiences, these will include architectural masterwork, a library with storey-high book shelves, the great hall, the seat of the UAE’s cabinet, a house of knowledge learning hub and exhibits that tell the story of the nation’s rich and nuanced history.
The new attraction, Al Barza, is situated behind the Great Hall and is a huge space that can comfortably host 300 visitors. Guests will be able to learn about the history of the majlis and how it played a central role in the formation of the UAE’s administrational structure.
