A new restaurant, fashioned in the style of an aeroplane has opened on the city’s Deference Street.
Called Transit Terminal Food, the restaurant intends to recreate the onboard experience for those who miss travel and the ability to explore new regions amid the continued Coronavirus pandemic. The restaurant boasts interiors that look exactly like those that you’d find on a plane with everything from aeroplane style seats, table trays and even cabin announcements.
The brainchild of Mohamed Basha, the restaurant aims to bring a taste of the world to the UAE with limited travel still available in the UAE. Basha commented: “I am a traveller. I have visited more than 100 countries. I have tasted a lot of local foods that’s why I was thinking during Covid-19 how it’s been difficult for people to travel and eat famous food in the streets of the world. I was focusing on the foods that are famous in the countries’ capitals’ streets and that people travel to in order to try them. We have food from more than 30 countries.”
Designed to look like a boarding pass, the menu includes a Parisian-style shrimp baguette, currywurst from Germany, South African boerewors, Belgian waffles, Mexican quesadillas and a selection of burgers from the US. Dishes are served to customers by waiting staff that are dressed in cabin crew-style uniforms.
