New Murabba Stadium to Open in 2032

A subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) has unveiled the ambitious designs for the New Murabba Stadium in Riyadh, set to be completed by the end of 2032.

Inspired by the Acacia tree, the stadium will have a seating capacity for 45,000 spectators and will be an integral part of the “New Murabba” downtown destination.

The New Murabba Stadium represents a significant stride in Riyadh’s transformation into a global hub for sports and entertainment. Michael Dyke, CEO of the New Murabba Development Company, emphasised the stadium’s role in this broader vision, highlighting its potential to attract international events and enhance the city’s global standing.

The stadium is part of the larger New Murabba project, one of Saudi Arabia’s key megaprojects designed to redefine modern urban living. Spanning over 19 million square metres, New Murabba aims to create a state-of-the-art downtown area featuring the Mukaab, a towering, square-shaped structure. The Mukaab will blend traditional Najdi architecture with cutting-edge technology, offering immersive digital and holographic experiences.

This development will host many tourist attractions, cultural, retail and hospitality facilities and recreational areas. Additionally, it will include commercial spaces, hotels and residential units, creating a vibrant community for over 420,000 residents. More than 80 entertainment and cultural zones will contribute to the dynamic environment envisioned for New Murabba.

Beyond hosting sports events, the New Murabba Stadium is designed to be a versatile venue. It will accommodate gaming competitions, exhibitions and various entertainment events, positioning Riyadh as a premier destination for diverse large-scale events. This flexibility ensures that the stadium will remain active and relevant year-round, catering to various interests and industries.
