Walmart Inc. is giving its hourly employees another round of cash bonuses and announced its stores will close on Thanksgiving Day.
“We know this has been a trying year, and our associates have stepped up,” said John Furner, President and CEO of Walmart US. “We hope they will enjoy a special Thanksgiving Day at home with their loved ones. We are certainly thankful to our people for all of their efforts.”
The retail giant will spend another $428M on bonuses for its workers, with a $300 bonus for full-time hourly employees, a $150 bonus for part-time and temporary employees. Drivers, managers and assistant managers at stores, clubs, distribution centres and other areas of the business will also receive a bonus.
“Our associates have been working at an incredible pace, they’ve solved problems, and they’ve set an amazing example for others,” said Furner. “To further appreciate their incredible work, we are pleased to share another special cash bonus this summer.”
