The newly launched fully women-led Mediterranean restaurant is located in Dubai’s Business Bay.
The new hotel is headed up by 25-year old chef de cuisine Sara Aqel who trained under Massimo Bottura, the world-famous Michelin-star chef. Fi’lia boasts a menu of authentic Mediterranean dishes that are split into three categories.
‘Nonna’ houses the traditional Italian dishes and flavours your grandmother would make including fried calamari, traditional antipasti, lasagne, raviloli and grilled prawns; ‘Mamma’ puts a contemporary twist on classic dishes such as burrata, vitello tonnato, pappardelle with veal ragu and Angus tenderloin and ‘Figlia’ is a daughter’s modern approach to dishes with items including sea bass with a feta crust, lobster orzo and truffle risotto. Alongside these categories, a selection of classic and special pizzas are available as well as ‘la famiglia’ sharing dishes.
“Fi’lia is derived from the word figlia, meaning daughter in Italian and embodies a truly remarkable concept, run by women and empowering them to challenge the status quo in the industry,” the team comments.
