Following a period of delay due to the circumstances of Covid-19, Universal Studios Japan has now finally announced that its Super Nintendo World expansion will open on March 18.
Originally slated to open in Japan on February 4, Super Nintendo World is an immersive themed expansion where guests can experience the world of Nintendo through a number of rides and attractions such as Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge, Yoshi’s Adventure and Bowser Jr. Shadow Showdown.
Thierry Coup, Senior VP and Chief Creative Officer, explains: “Think of Super Nintendo World as a life-size, living video game where you become one of the characters. You’re not just playing the game; you’re living the game, you’re living the adventure.”
The park will also feature characters, retail outlets and F&B elements including Kinopio’s Café and Yoshi’s Snack Island. Guests can link their smartphones with Power Up Bands which allow them to collect digital coins and compete with other visitors.
