Due to the ongoing effects of the coronavirus lockdowns, Pizza Express has today announced that it will close 73 of its 454 UK locations.
Although the restaurant has enjoyed great profits prior to the global pandemic, a lack of income from consumers has made rental costs unsustainable for the brand, this coupled with the UK’s uncertain economic future means its costs were no longer manageable. These factors have all influenced the brands difficult decision to close certain locations.
Zoe Bowley, Managing Director for the UK & Ireland has commented: ‘Unfortunately, the impact of the global pandemic has meant that we have had to make some incredibly touch decisions to safeguard Pizza Express for the long term.’
