The Irish fast fashion retailer will open a new store in Chieti, Abruzzo. The shop, located inside the Megalò shopping center, is the first store on the Adriatic coast and the tenth in Italy.
“After the opening of our flagship store and Italian headquarters in Milan, the new store located inside the Megalò shopping center in Chieti represents a real milestone in our expansion path in Italy as it brings the total of Primark store in the country ”, commented Luca Ciuffreda, Head of Primark in Italy.
With a commercial area of approximately 4,000 square meters, the new Chieti space will offer the clothing collections for men, women, children, beauty, lifestyle and homewear. In addition, the store will also feature a wide range of clothing products and items from the ‘Primark Cares’ brand. In fact, currently 39% of clothing is made with recycled materials or from more sustainable sources. The new store will also house a dedicated area, with the latest additions, part of Primark’s ever-growing sustainable denim collection.

This opening is part of a broader long-term strategic project aimed at consolidating the position of leading reference point of the shopping center both at regional and supra-regional level ”commented Pietro Mauro, Center Manager of the Megalò Shopping Center. “We strongly believe that the opening of Primark will have a positive impact on the entire mall and the local community, including from an employment perspective.”
This new store temporally follows the recent opening of the new flagship store and headquarter for Italy in Via Torino in Milan and last year’s inaugurations in Rome and Catania, which have all met with enormous success. In fact, Italian customers will see the opening of four additional new stores over the next 12 months: Bologna, which will open in the summer, Turin, at the Shopville Le Gru shopping center, Caserta, by the end of the year, and Venice. , inside the Nave De Vero shopping center in 2023. This ambitious expansion plan will bring the total number of Primark stores in the Bel Paese to 14 and the retail space to over 55,000 square meters.
Founded in 1969 under the Penney name, Primark currently has 400 stores in 14 countries in Europe and North America, with a workforce of over 70,000 employees. Primark continues to expand into current and new markets with the aim of reaching the share of 530 stores by the end of 2026, including upcoming openings in Romania and Slovakia.
