Primark to Expand into Texas

The value-priced fashion and home goods retailer, which is owned by Associated British Foods, is expanding into Texas.

Primark has signed leases to open at two locations in the Lone Star state: La Plaza Mall in McAllen and Cielo Vista Mall in El Paso.

The stores will feature more than 37,000sq ft of shopping space. The assortment will include women’s, men’s and kids fashions and essentials as well as beauty, homeware and accessories. Primark is known for its budget prices, with denim starting at $10 and tee shirts at $4.50.

The Texas expansion comes as Primark has set a goal of opening 60 stores in the US by 2026. To support its growth across Southern states such as Texas, the retailer will open a new distribution centre in Jacksonville, Florida.

“We’ve seen great success as we’ve continued Primark’s US growth southward, even expanding our store footprint at Sawgrass Mills in Florida due to demand,” said Jerod Dinkin, Head of Real Estate, Primark. “We knew as we continued expansion that Texas was the right market for us, considering the population size and demographic, shopper behaviour and recognizing the state’s strong mall presence.”
