Continuing its US expansion, Primark is ready to open its first location in suburban Illinois and its second in the state.
On 12 October, the 37,000sq ft Primark store will join Macy’s, Nordstrom, and JCPenney in the anchor line-up at Simon’s 2.2 million square feet Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, about 15 miles outside of Chicago.
The rapidly expanding, value-priced fashion and home goods retailer made its Illinois debut two years ago with a two-level flagship on N. State Street in downtown Chicago, where business has been bustling according to the chain, which is owned by Associated British Foods.
“With the success of our North State Street store, we see a huge demand from Chicagoland shoppers and are pleased to soon open our doors in Schaumburg,” said Kevin Tulip, President Primark US. “With this expansion in the market, we anticipate making quite the splash at Woodfield Mall. We’re gearing up to surprise and delight shoppers with a holiday season they won’t soon forget!”
