UAE-based retail giant Lulu intends to add 25 new hypermarkets in 2021 despite the ongoing and lasting impacts of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Chairman of Lulu, Yusuffali MA said that while the group’s expansion plans may have been delayed, none of them have shelved and the group intends to continue with their expansion plans despite the current retail climate and shoppers increased interest in online shopping.
Yusuffali MA, comments: “It’s been a very eventful, but a very satisfying journey and we will continue to grow both in existing as well as new markets. There might be some delays in launching our new projects but none of them have been shelved. Hopefully we will reach 225 store count by the end of 2021.”
This commitment from the group comes following the recent opening of Lulu’s 200th hypermarket which opened in Park Mall, Cairo, Egypt, last week.
