Following months of closure, non-essential shops and retail will finally reopen to customers today across England and Wales.
Restrictions put in place by the UK government to prevent the spread of Covid-19 are slowly beginning to ease. Today, following months of closure that began just after Christmas, non-essential retail and, shops and beauty salons can now open their doors in England and Wales. Alongside this, gym’s, zoos, nail salons, theme parks, drive-in cinemas and hairdressers can open and restaurants and pubs can begin to welcome customers outside.
This is the second step of the government’s four-stage reopening plan. Following a successful reopening of retail, pubs, restaurant and hotels can reopen indoors in line with the ‘rule of six’ policy from May 17 and the limit of six people will no longer apply to outdoor activities, however meetings of more than 30 people will continue to remain illegal.
