Retail Sales Recover in Singapore

The rebound in retail across Singapore has continued, rising 18.1 per cent year-on-year, with moto vehicles the exception to this.

This increase comes on the back of a 19.9 per cent jump for June, with both June and July reflecting the low base of a year earlier when Covid-19 restrictions on border crossings and retail trading impacted shopping.

Apparel and footwear saw the biggest individual category increase, as its sales jumped up 68.3 per cent, predominantly because of handbags and footwear. Meanwhile, sales of food and alcohol, trade through department stores, and sales of watches and jewellery increased by between 41.7 and 53.1 per cent.
