Ride-hailing services to commence

Careem and Hala are set to be the first ride-hailing applications to launch in Ras Al Khaimah

A new agreement has been penned by Dubai-based Careem and Hala with the Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority which will see the emirate’s first ride-hailing services for taxis and limos provided.

In a statement, the transport authority said that the move is aimed at helping visitors and residents by allowing them to know their ride ETA, fare estimates and driver details, as well as having a variety of payment options and the ability to collect reward points.

“This step comes from the authority’s commitment to uplift the transport sector and ensure the provision of safe, reliable and smart transport services,” said RAK Transport Authority Director General Ismail Al Balooshi.

Hala can be accessed on the Careem app and it will be launching a pilot phase in Ras Al Khaimah until they roll it out to a larger fleet to vehicles, which is set to be later this month.

“Entering the Ras Al Khaimah market represents a huge cooperation between both public and private sectors and will allow us to deploy our technology to optimise the infrastructure and provide easy and convenient options for people to travel around seamlessly, in addition to a great customer experience,” said Bassel Al Nahlaoui, Managing Director of Careem (Gulf and Pakistan).
