Ritz Carlton to Open on The Gold Coast

From family favourite to luxury powerhouse, the high-end transformation of Australia’s Gold Coast has just received another major boost, with The Ritz-Carlton, Gold Coast confirmed to open in the city’s north in 2026.

Part of a $480 million waterfront development at Mariner’s Cove, across the road from The Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort and minutes from Surfers Paradise, the freshly-announced five-star hotel will boast 150 elegantly-appointed rooms including a sprawling 275sqm Ritz-Carlton Suite as top billing.

While the Gold Coast is known for its beachfront skyscrapers, Mariner’s Cove forms part of the Spit – a narrow strip of land between the Broadwater and beachfront – and is bound to a low-rise development limit of three storeys.

The Ritz-Carlton Gold Coast will abide by this, featuring two levels of rooms and suites, crowned by a sunny rooftop pool and terrace.

Design-wise, the hotel takes liberal inspiration from the 1960s, with sweeping curved balconies laden with greenery and circular architectural flourishes on the roof.

In typical Ritz-Carlton fashion, dining will be a key focus of the resort with a signature restaurant and three bars, including a lobby lounge and poolside bar tailor-made for embracing the relaxed Gold Coast lifestyle.

Complementing a fitness centre and spa offering restorative wellness treatments, there will also be a water playground alongside terrace seating overlooking the 67-berth marina.

The Ritz-Carlton Gold Coast will be the latest upscale addition to the South East Queensland mecca in recent years, joining The Langham, Gold Coast – opened in June this year – and the revamped JW Marriott Resort & Spa.

It will be the third Ritz-Carlton to open in Australia, joining the stable which began with Perth in 2019 and will soon include Melbourne from early 2023.
