The new measures come following a recent spike in Coronavirus cases with the hopes of reducing numbers as quickly and safely as possible.
The measures are expected to last for a period of at least ten days and will a ban on any social gatherings with more than 20 guests, the suspension of all entertainment activities and events, the closing down of all cinemas, indoor entertainment centres, independent indoor games places, restaurants, shopping malls, gyms and sports centres and the suspension of dining services.
As well as this, all events and parties including weddings, corporate meetings and gatherings will be suspended for a period of at least 30 days.
The number of Coronavirus cases in some regions of Saudi Arabia has started to increase due to lax implementation of precautionary measures. The implementation of these new measures hopes to squash a more severe second outbreak of the virus that some other countries have witnessed in recent months.
