The Dutch fashion brand has opened a brand new store in the Big Apple as part of its North American growth strategy.
Scotch & Soda opened its new store on Broadway, in the heart of New York City’s trendy and bustling SoHo neighbourhood. Keeping true to its Dutch roots and the free spirit of Amsterdam, the 6,000sq ft store offers a curated selection of men’s, women’s and children’s apparel and accessories.
Decorative white beams illuminated by track lighting adorn the store’s ceiling. The space also features natural hardwood flooring, distressed brick walls and industrial-inspired metal fixtures that display Scotch & Soda’s new fall collections — all highlighting the company’s signature, eclectic styles.
This is the company’s first store opening since being acquired in April 2023 by New York-based brand management company Bluestar Alliance. The acquisition came on the heels of Scotch & Soda’s bankruptcy filing in March 2023. (That month, a separate affiliate of the New York-based brand management firm acquired the brand out of bankruptcy in the Netherlands.) Financial services platform B. Riley Financial participated in the acquisition and has acquired an equity interest in the brand.
Scotch & Soda’s SoHo store coincides with the company’s current strategy to continue expanding its retail store portfolio and its e-commerce platform. Anthony Lucia, who was appointed the brand’s global president by Bluestar, is tasked with expanding Scotch & Soda’s retail footprint and e-commerce operations.
