Cornish womenswear brand, Seasalt is continuing its store expansion, this time crossing international waters to open its first stand-alone store in New Zealand’s Auckland.
This is the first time outside of Europe that Seasalt has launched a store with a franchise partner. The new project is an expansion of its current cooperation with Ballantynes, a retailer based in New Zealand, which became its first wholesale client in 2014. Paul Hayes, CEO at Seasalt Cornwall, said, “We are very excited about this next stage of growth for Seasalt in New Zealand.”
In 2021, Seasalt opened its first global concept store as a branded section of the Ballantynes Christchurch store. In accordance with the new arrangement, Ballantynes will take on the role of Seasalt’s only distributor throughout the nation and launch a number of Seasalt-branded storefronts in addition to the concessions now offered in Ballantynes retail locations.
This September, Auckland’s Milford Centre will see the debut of the first standalone store. Chief Executive Officer at Ballantynes, Maria O’Halloran, commented, “We are very proud of the relationships that we forge with International Suppliers.”
