Simon to Developer New Centre in Nashville

The company is adding to its presence in the metro Nashville area, one of the fastest-growing cities in the US.

The company said that it has purchased a large site at the intersection of I-65 and I-840 in Thompson’s Station, Tennessee, on which it plans a Simon Premium Outlet. The location is just outside of Nashville, which once again has been named one of the fastest-growing cities in the US.

Construction of the luxury shopping and lifestyle centre is expected to begin in 2026. Initial plans call for up of 75 “best-in-class” retailers, restaurants and a hotel, with the potential to add residential options, big-box retailers and more, Simon said in a press release.

“We look forward to bringing our distinctive luxury outlet shopping experience to metro Nashville, an area we know well and have long served,” said Gary Duncan, Simon’s President of Premium Outlets and The Mills. “It’s one of our country’s most dynamic and fastest growing markets.”

Simon said it expects the centre to draw residents and tourists from around the state and region. The company is collaborating on the project with Nashville-based Adventurous Journeys (“AJ”) Capital Partners, known for its work in hospitality and real estate development.

Simon currently operates Opry Mills and The Mall at Green Hills in the Nashville metro. The company reports that Opry Mills – the region’s largest outlet mall at 1.2 million square feet – draws customers from all 50 states and features than 200 stores and 20 restaurants. Simon operates The Mall at Green Hills through a joint venture with Taubman Realty Group.

“This project represents a significant investment in our town and has the potential to enhance local amenities, create jobs and strengthen our economy,” said Thompson’s Station Mayor Brian Stover. “We look forward to working with the developers to ensure this project is a tremendous success.”
