The Singapore Art Museum (SAM) is expanding its reach with the launch of a new space at Tanjong Pagar Distripark, set to be complete in early 2022.
The move is part of a larger initiative launched by the Singapore Art Museum to open art spaces across Singapore. The company is taking over an industrial warehouse space at Tanjong Pagar Distripark, which will become home to a number of innovative and experimental art experiences as well as spaces for community interactions.
SAM at Tanjong Pagar Distripark is spread across two storeys and includes an events space and an F&B outlet. The first level will occupy more than 2,000sq m with two galleries that will showcase large-scale installations and exhibitions.
Eugene Tan, Director of the Singapore Art Museum, commented: “SAM has welcomed art lovers and the art curious to our buildings for over 25 years. Going beyond our four walls will enable SAM to evolve as an outward-looking art space that is open for new ideas, healthy debates and collaborative exchanges across communities.”
