Starbucks Teases ‘Future Drive-Thru’ Concept

The coffee-chain giant is the latest in the food & beverage industry to adopt a new future drive-thru concept that’s perfect for a post Covid-19 word.

According to Starbucks’ Chief Operations Officer Roz Brewer (who is set to leave and become CEO of Walgreens at the end of February), the new ‘future drive-thru concept’ is the final piece of the Starbucks’ efforts to create a more accessible model for a post-Covid world.

The new drive-thru concept has three main strands that will enhance the customer experience. Starbucks firstly intends to optimise their current setup, which will hopefully increase the speed of service and see customers get their drinks and snacks quicker.

Secondly, the brand intends to test drive-thru forward solutions – employees will walk down the customer line and take orders in advance, again shortening the waiting time for customers. This service is available in around 300 drive-thru locations however the brand expects this to be bumped up to 500 by the end of February.

Finally, Starbucks intends to implement the drive-thru of the future design which will see the elimination of seating and the creation of multiple lines.
