The news comes following a previous announcement in June that the coffee chain would be closing or relocating 200 locations.
Canada is currently home to around 1400 Starbucks locations however the iconic coffee chain says that it has had to re-evaluate its current portfolio as consumer habits continue to change and footfall remains low at a number of locations.
“Our team has started the process of repositioning the portfolio over the course of the summer, accelerating the strategic plans. We already had in place, what we’ve learned is that we’ve been able to manage the closures much more efficiently than we had originally anticipated and that’s largely about the average lease exit costs,” commented Kevin Johnson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Starbucks.
