British fashion label Studio Nicholson has opened a new flagship store in Tokyo, marking the London-based brand’s physical store debut in Japan.
Located in the capital city’s Aoyama district, the new Tokyo store spans 764sq ft and hosts the luxury brand’s co-ed fashion assortment for both men and women. Designed by founder and creative director Nick Wakeman, in collaboration with Danish designers Carl Hansen & Son, the Japan store houses luxurious leather and wood furniture with a vintage feel.
The new Japan opening was made in partnership with local distribution partner, Kowa, with the minimalist fashion brand trading in Japan for more than 10 years prior to its retail debut.
“I first came to a perfectly ordered Tokyo back in 1999. Arriving from a grimy nineties London, I found everything in Japan was impeccable, well ordered and clean — the tonal beiges, browns and creams and the light in Japan, I fell in love with it,” said Wakeman. “Tokyo has informed all my design taste levels over the past two decades. This store opening is the brand coming home.”
